The first things each of us three kids pulled out of our stockings yesterday were one of those chocolate mice from Boston. I ate mine right up, but Marie showed hers to us, Mom suggested I could have done the same, and I suggested maybe I could bring some home next time I go visit Brian. (The rest of our stocking gifts included other candy and some clothes, mostly.)

As for regular gifts, Marie got me a DVD set of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, season 2, one of several different things I listed for Mom that she later mentioned relaying to her and Brian, and told me that season 3 should arrive here in a few weeks. She did mention being confused by what actually said "set 2" and "set 3" before I cleared things up for her.

Brian, on his part, got me a $20 gift card for Steam (another item I had listed) and a plushie of Meta Knight, which he mentioned later when I asked, actually getting well in advance months ago in North Carolina when he thought that's what "McKnight" refers to. (Incidentally, I did show him an episode of Mon Colle Knights just last month, mainly for his voice after preceding that the previous day with some of Sonic's cutscenes from Sonic Adventure and before re-showing him chapter 5 of Starbound, after he mentioned a while earlier not knowing how to write Mondo in Starbound.)

Most importantly, though, Mom herself got me a copy of Super Paper Mario, something I specified even before making that list that I only wrote up when she asked me if there was anything else I was interested in. (The only other items in question were a few other games, including Grandia and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, both of which I would have originally picked up only from Savers until, out of curiosity, I googled "Persona 2 food" and discovered that pair of games' concept of restaurants apart from its handful of individual food items and gave it its own entry on Game Gourmet and increased priority on my agenda. Even more ironic after I had already decided to drop Persona 5 unless David ever decides to pawn off his Playstation 4, given how left out from eating w/ her friends Futaba essentially is when I discovered that she can't fight directly and thus cannot take damage or summon Personas, after originally assuming that the role she does play in battle is simply a nice little bonus from keeping her in the back.)

On my part, I got Brian a manga copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and the family as a whole seasons 2 through 4 of Bob's Burgers on DVD. Normally, I would have made The Adventures of Pete & Pete two years ago my last DVD gift, given how obsolete those are getting, but honestly, I wasn't crazy about how we had Northern Exposure up on the TV last year, and there were a few other shows I sought out as well, but that was the only one I could find.

Normally, I would have asked instead for Disgaea 1 Complete and The World Ends With You (the latter which I did see at Target the previous day) for my Switch. However, I'll still be able to request those for my birthday in a few months. This change in plans stems from the change I discovered quite by accident about Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door from the original Paper Mario. Going on to include SPM in my agenda was when I decided to check out what was going on with the Wii Shop Channel, and discovered when it was ending. At first, I misread that to be the end of next March, but a closer read somewhere revealed that March 31 was when Nintendo stopped selling Wii points this past year, and I decided it would be practical after such a discovery in something I don't keep track of because I hardly ever used the Wii at all, to hit two birds with one stone while I make a point of spending whatever points I still have.

That became the reason I zeroed in on TTYD after finishing chapter 6 of Starbound, and incidentally, Brian did tell me not too long ago having actually started over with Breath of the Wild. I would also like him to be able to play that the whole way through, although he did bring it home this visit to play Super Mario Party.

After a lot of consideration and trying to convince myself that the actual game wouldn't matter as long as it re-motivates me to continue Starbound, though, I came to accept just a few days ago that, just coming off from TTYD (Getter Love!! notwithstanding), I'd probably get more actual enjoyment out of it later after playing something different first, especially with such a relatively boring ensemble of player characters it has as four of the franchise's core characters compared to your seven or eight partners in each previous game.

I already ran that past Mom the other day, she understood, and so, I hooked the Wii up and downloaded Phantasy Star, along with some freebies that would only take up space that will otherwise go unused, after we finished opening presents. Only 200 points left now from 700 I had beforehand; not enough to buy anything, but after already seeing what's still available on both the Virtual Console and WiiWare, there isn't much else likely ever to interest me anyway.

Admittedly, I did consider trying to maximize my pre-chapter enjoyment with something else still, something that would involve food much more heavily, but found myself overthinking things and decided that something relatively simple may be in order instead, also to allow me to reactivate WaniKani as early as today.

(I did watch an episode of JoJo, though, and managed to make out some nice parallels there with Starbound, chs. 1 and 2.)

(Grandma Ella, Uncle Robby, and Cousin Adam came to visit us for a while, but most of what we did w/ them around isn't all that noteworthy, just having dinner, watching TV, and scratching off some lottery cards.)
