Apr. 28th, 2019 07:17 amBrian and Emily arrived home at 4 PM yesterday. He said he had some stuff to take care of throughout the morning before leaving his apartment. What better day than yesterday to have done some shopping and then mix and carry cement with Mom while Dad does some work under the floor in the porch.
-----
Went with Brian and Emily to pick up some Turkish food. Mom was originally going to cook a frozen beef & Guinness pie that she actually would have cooked for us last month if our stove hadn't malfunctioned, but I guess we saved her some work there.
At one point on the way there, the topic of Mother came up, and Brian mentioned that he tends to consult my walkthrough periodically. He said how easy stuff is to lose track of out of context and how impractical it is to carry that binder around when he's just playing on the train (and considering how he already once lost some manga on me, I would probably agree even more there).
(This would probably make things awkward for when I give him Mother 3. For one thing, I sort of wrote both my walkthroughs with preparation on mind, since just fumbling around even just to start with is not my style. More importantly, though, is the issue of the Battle Memory. Like, there are enemies who exist only for the sake of completing that, that you have to go out of your way to fight, but there are also plenty of regular enemies that are easy to miss for the rest of the game. If you miss any of these, you might as well not bother with any of the former further into the game or even have with those you already had. However, your only reward for completing the Battle Memory is a secret to make the game more challenging, which itself was only added in with the translation. Personally, I find it more fulfilling in and of itself just to experience the game in full, and this is basically a case of get-all-or-don't-bother, so I'm gonna have to run all of this past him again when I give him the game. Though, I might also suggest then that he make a habit of alternating save files and putting the game down each time he saves the game, and then consulting my walkthrough for anything he might've missed.)
We went to a different Pita House than the one we used to eat at, and also visited this shop next door called Turkish Pistachio, which had all kinds of chocolates, nuts, and dried fruits among other things. I got myself a small bag of pistachio-chocolate mushrooms.
-----
Managed to show Brian my progress with Starbound thus far. Right now, my main focus is on getting to an appropriate point to end the chapter on, so I am hoping today to discuss how to continue the chapter with him before I actually do so tomorrow.
-----
Note to self: Hold off on Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid whenever I go to Barnes & Noble these next few months. (It does help that I still have some other manga still unread for months now, that I tend to save for trips.)
