Coming off from last entry, no, you can't link modded games to Google Play Games or Facebook, not normally anyway. For Facebook, you can try deleting the respective app, and then signing in with just your name and password, but Google has a different trick that involves renaming the folder several times.

I tried downloading the clip's example game from Google Play, just for comparison, but while it does let you access the folder, Food Fantasy does not.

So, I looked into rooting my phone, following the instructions provided by Tushar Jain here, and that went smoothly enough for a while, especially with my phone already unlocked from before I got it. However, what you're supposed to do on your phone between steps B-11 and B-12 is not covered there, and in videos that do cover it, the folders you can view on your computer when you link to that, stored within one called "Internal shared storage", are all viewable under one called "sdcard" in TWRP. For me, though, those don't appear, and sdcard itself resides among several dozen other folders that I can't view by PC. That means that I can't put anything on my phone anywhere I'll be able to find it within TWRP.

Needless to say, when I redo the tutorial, I'm not gonna be able to provide any real tips about rooting, which is also the only way to mod any pre-installed copies of the game. But then again, I have read that there is no one method for all models anyway. All I'll be able to say about it is that while a lot of downloading will be involved if you can't find any software to just take care of it (I couldn't), the process isn't all so daunting as it may seem, and Google and YouTube should come in handy for anyone who gets stuck.

With that, I was also supposed to look into re-signing my apk after modding it to just connect to Google or Facebook. However, I am not all that familiar with the software that the first hyperlinked page instructs me to download, so Brian has agreed to guide me through that just to make sure I'm doing everything right. For now, I am giving this whole thing a rest, so that I can spend some time back with Starbound this week.

(While the de-/re-compiling tutorial is compatible enough with Windows, the page did say its tutorial would require some tweaking there, unlike on Macintosh or Linux, so I will be carrying things there out on my laptop. And, just as a reminder to myself, since that normally doesn't allow running software from unidentified sources, the administrator name is Mom's full name that marks her account on it (it was her's previously, inherited from Brian), and the password is the name doubled of our childhood dog, no-caps.)
