Sep. 10th, 2019 06:32 amMom and I finally finished watching my Earthbound playthrough yesterday.
During the credits, which had a lot of Japanese names, she asked if "Ape" is pronounced "ah-pay", after having heard the correct pronunciation for Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe's surname on the news, but I told her that it's actually the English word, complete with an actual ape depicted in the opening legal info. (Funny, because whenever I talk to Brian about Starbound, he pronounces Konata's name as "con-uh-tah" (ditto with "Mondo" and "Homura"), despite having already watched Lucky Star in its entirety before. Good thing Kanata, whose name is meant to be pronounced similarly as "kahn-uh-tah", is only rarely referred to in canon and might only have a token appearance in Starbound either.)
Mom also asked what we should watch next. Since she also asked that a year ago after we finished watching Lucky Star, I suggested Puella Magi Madoka Magica, that being my other favorite anime.
