Sep. 25th, 2019 07:12 amFollowing my failed experience with Yokai Kitchen, I still couldn't help but think about Food Fantasy, and tried to figure out why part of me still wants to play that game so badly, when right now, I otherwise don't want to be playing anything involving food or turn-based combat while the possibility remains that I might never find anyone to help me plan out Starbound's overall story.
What I thought I wanted in particular is the much wider cast of characters that can comprise your overall party than in most normal RPGs, all of whom are unique in some way instead of assuming character classes, and to decide what each of my characters will eat each day. I looked around on someone's list on Reddit for different gachapon games, but while more than a few are said to have food, only one of those, Grand Summoners, has both a particularly large menu and a wiki listing everything it has.
No matter how I look at it, though, the concept of people named after food just sort of stands out over "regular" naming styles.
From there, I have decided to plan out a new fanfic project instead, for whenever I want a break from Starbound. (That should also help to avoid a repeat of everything that happened a few years ago involving the Cibus project and Unwilling Service.)
(I also discovered some sort of sequel called New World (not to be confused with New Journey). Not sure if that's supposed to be an in-game continuation or a new game altogether, but in the latter case, I would hope against hope that it fixes any issues at all that I already have with the current game, including censorship, discrimination against Mundane-tier Food Souls, artifacts only for select Food Souls, imbalanced skin voucher yields and prices, and linked-skill combinations between Food Souls who have nothing to do with eachother otherwise.)
For today, there are a few questions I need to get back to Chelle about, after having already filled her, Brian, and Marie in on this. However, I will probably write up the first chapter after I do as much as I can with the icon sheet that I'm still working on.
