Dec. 26th, 2019 05:48 amGot Dad some new woodsplitting tools, since the stuff we've had has been showing wear and tear.
Got Mom some new Christmas lights, since the bulbs we have are missing paint.
Got Brian a copy of Flowers for Algernon that I found at Savers the other day; something my English class read an abbreviated version of late in 8th grade before I'd go on to read the original novel.
For Marie, Mom and I got a couple of boxes of Berry Berry Kix, a favorite cereal of hers that isn't sold in San Francisco. Mom did originally suggest a box of chocolate-covered strawberries like what Emily brought over recently, but then found them too expensive when we actually looked at some online.
And, I got volumes 2 through 4 of The Isolator, and a player's guide for Star Ocean: First Departure. Mom told me when I asked that Grandma Barbara currently has the flu but might be up for a visit from us once she gets better, and I decided to save The Isolator for the ride then. (Mom had also agreed to pay for that game itself onto my Switch, after she and I both realized it download-only early this month, when Brian and I would look into downloading later in the day.)
Marie had also gotten me a couple of books by Neil Gaiman and a storytelling class by him that I'll need to make a point of checking out.
-----
Mom won $15 from one of her scratchoff tickets.
-----
Managed to watch a total of six episodes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency with Brian.
-----
Mom took me and Brian down to the beach, although Marie declined. We started this year's visit with a visit to the National Seashore Building before walking down the shore.
During the ride back, I mentioned this urge I've had to create some kind of randomization walkthrough for Earthbound, something I've had plans for for a while now and have started just the other day to unwind from a five-day revision of my first game mechanics file. (It's ironic, too, that Christmas is supposed to mark my monthly break for December, when I get a new game that I'm supposed to unwind then with, and I was even hoping this would wear off beforehand for exactly that reason.)
Brian and Mom both talked me out of giving into such impulses, urging me to stay on task and try to get a certain amount of work done at fixed intervals. I then mentioned to him that, now that he's finally here, one thing I actually do need to get out of the way is to show him an on-hiatus discussion I recently had with Chelle today, although I'm gonna have to re-read all that myself in order to figure out which points to highlight.
(Today, I also need to compile everything I have thus far of THIS IS IT! that I promised to show Marie. In lieu of any work on Starbound, though, I will probably take my next break when I'm all done with my current icon sheet.)

And for dessert, Mom had made some sort of ice cream pie, an idea she came up with after I suggested sundaes as our holiday dessert, after Marie declined on milkshakes.
