Dec. 17th, 2006 06:08 amMom got Marie an ant farm yesterday, and woke her up to present it to her. It came with these large, red harvester ants, although some of them died by this morning.
I beat Pokemon Crystal yesterday. Obviously, there's no reward for beating the game, as there never is any for beating any game; the game itself is the reward. That's the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation which we learned in Psychology, the former coming into play in this case. It feels nice and relaxing, though, to just have played it after a long week of preparing for and taking final exams.
Last night, I got started with translating the instruction manual for the Mon Colle Knights GBC game. I was already exhausted by the time I finished translating the table of contents. Meanwhile, Mom took Brian and Marie to get the Christmas tree, and Marie wanted to decorate it...at 8:00 P.M. Mom and Marie had already finished putting the lights on it (and had previously installed the Christmas lights on our house), but Marie wanted to start putting up the ornaments. Brian wasn't home, but he usually isn't interested in that anyway. However, the rest of us were all tired, and discouraged Marie from taking all the fun for herself. We all agreed to continue the next day, but she then started being miserable. Soon enough, Dad warned her that if she keeps having the glum attitude, it's going to become part of her personality..."just like Grandma Ella," in his words.
