Some anime and gaming plans
Sep. 9th, 2020 07:34 amSeveral weeks ago, I randomly came across the first outro to this show called Mawaru! Penguindrum while browsing YouTube.

Despite being made in 2011 and having various CG effects, the art style looks otherwise sort of '90s-ish. While I don't intend to watch the actual show after having done some research on it, it did get me in the mood to try out some genuinely ancient stuff such as Dirty Pair Flash and Devil Hunter Yohko.
Just yesterday, I received a DVD copy of Idol Project (a 1995 OVA, not to be confused with Love Live! School Idol Project) that I had Mom purchase for me in lieu of that week's allowance. Pretty ironic, because I actually never thought I'd come back to that at all, having originally watched it just shortly after I finished hosting Chronicles of 7th Grade on LiveJournal.
I don't actually expect to begin watching it just yet, though, because I have now gotten back into THIS IS IT! and would like to focus on finishing that up once and for all. I probably will show it to Brian and Emily when they're back, though, since Brian seemed to show some interest in idols, having even commented at one point when we watched the rest of Di Gi Charat the other night.
And now, conflicting with my previous plans for older stuff, I've found out that the Persona 5 anime has finally been dubbed, and also discovered this other new series called Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka, which features similar monsters to Esurientes. Both of those are on Funimation alongside Magia Record, so I'm glad I still have yet to watch that.

Having rethought my gaming plans due to various circumstances, I have re-constructed my bottom gaming priority after having deleted that a while ago for redundancy, so as to include Eiyuden Chronicle one way or another, and went on to re-subscribe for updates about that.
So far, it still seems unlikely that I ever will play anything under the new priority IV, unless I simply need something to hold over just shortly until Christmas or my birthday, but I know that Food Fantasy is not going to last forever, and I think it would do me some good to strike a balance between having enough games for a walkthrough and playthrough series each, having as much time left over with FF as possible, and having some games still left over for after that one ends, before I then go on to play Magia Record if that's still running in Japan (it's ending here on the 29th).
With that, The World Ends With You and the entire Disgaea series have both been moved down, former because you can only partner up with one other character at a time, and the latter for having exactly three main food groups instead of being more generalized. They predated three other whole series on my list, so they could get away with lower standards at their time, but now only The 7th Stand User remains before I start over with Trails in the Sky.
Sure can't wait to get my PC upgraded for Christmas, when I can then run a PS2 emulator, bump Grandia Xtreme up, and add three other games to my wishlist on Steam, while still awaiting some players guides for my birthday. With various things to do before I restart 7SU, just that and TitS FC and SC should be enough to hold me over for until then. (Will have to see what's going on with Zero, Ao, and Hajimari no Kiseki, and what games the Playstation 5 will be backwards-compatible with, before either requesting that next year or just playing Trails of Cold Steel on my computer.)
