Yesterday, Mom saw a hawk try to catch a squirrel, which then climbed up a tree and settled into the crux of a large branch. She says the hawk was big enough for her to mistake for one of these turkeys that wander about our neighborhood. She thought the squirrel died up there, but then I noticed it wiggle several times while merely stunned.

Brian has gone back, but will be back in three weeks, and we will celebrate my birthday then.
