Mom asked me yesterday morning to think of a project for the day so that I'm not sitting in my room all day, and suggested cooking for one thing. I considered that better than a chore, brought Mother's Cookbook down from the apartment to look through, and decided upon a steak.

Just so happens that we had a box of four miniature steaks that Aunt Marie had left us.

We decided to cook some mushrooms to go with it, which we started in the morning since they take hours to cook thoroughly, and Mom also cooked some sauteed peppers and re-heated some mashed potatoes by the time we got around to cooking the steak.
