Feb. 10th, 2022 05:27 amGlad to have it finally out of my system, but I really found myself obsessed with that game for more than this past week, not only barely focusing on Unity or even Wanikani each day, but even waking up as early as 2 or 3 each morning.
What stopped me yesterday is a script I received of Getter Love!!, very soon after an initial decoding of each text character into hex, which led me to expect an actual translation pretty soon. My contractor did mention being able to translate the game afterwards, but while I took that at the time to mean in-game, she cleared up just this morning that she actually meant a more general translation, and that I will likely need to find someone else to mod the game itself once I have both scripts to share with anyone.
Even without a ROM translation right on the way, though, I would still like to give Disgaea a rest, and it will probably be the next game I come back to after I write up my first five walkthroughs planned, try out some other games, and then publish said walkthroughs. This is probably not the best game to try to alternate with something, and I would probably have played Chip-chan Kick! instead if I still had my PC-FX.
It sure shows that some things in this game are not meant to be obtained in just one cycle (playthrough). I have just stopped halfway through the game with just barely 5,000 mana for Etna, and that was after grinding her and two other characters most of the time. And there are things that cost more than twice that much, too.
Here is also hoping that I roll more 1's in the Overlord's Castle next time, in order to propose more bills, bribe senators with everything that accumulates from shopping and Geo Puzzles, and vanquish anyone who votes nay on anything other than Raise Military Funds.

Suffice to say, my obsession with that game is also the reason I haven't been updating this blog, so here are a few minor things that have happened this past week:
-Saw one of the cashiers at Savers wearing a shirt with the logo for Old School Gamer, that place I once sent my Super NES to for repairs.
-Ate out at Friendly's after a solo workout, and Dawn from down Masem Court, who was with one of her daughters Jillian, happened to spot me and say hi.
-----
Yesterday, Mom went shopping (probably at Costco, since she did bring home a bag of birdseed), and happened to find a box of taiyaki that she bought for me. She says that she saw it next to the ice cream. I would've noticed it myself if it were there before, so it seems like a coincidence that they would suddenly have that when we have just one episode left of something where it's one of the main characters' favorite food.
I did notice that this kind is filled with custard instead of red bean paste. Can't say I'm surprised, given how common it is for delicacies to be modified upon localization.
-----
Mom and I also had a walk down Smith Point, having had a few warm days just now. I decided upon that when she gave me a choice, since she and Dad had spotted a snowy owl there the previous day that she took a picture of.
We didn't see it this time, but we did see a bunch of other things, even on the ways to and from the beach. Most prominent was a whole herd of deer around the parking lot.
