The other day, Mom and I were talking about how these bands from the '60s were all named "The [something]s." In particular, Mom had The Mamas and the Papas playing on her radio, but there were also such bands back then as The Beatles, the Monkees, The Animals, the Police, The Golliwogs (became Creedence Clearwater Revival), and so on, and how we don't have too many of those anymore.

Leading to a later conversation, I suddenly remembered this retro band called The White Stripes, from the early '0s but sounding similar. I remember discovering them back in 2002, through their video for Fell in Love with a Girl, and while I wasn't really into them, Brian would become.

Later still, I remember this band called The Slant (singular), which either Brian or Marie put a CD on only several weeks after I began college in '04. I told Mom, but as it turns out, there is seemingly no information at all on it, and neither of them remember either. (I do recall listening to them once on Windows Media Player, though.)

I went on to order it through our library, and that was one of several errands we ran yesterday.

The first of said errands, though, was a walk through Cathedral Pines, but it turned out to be so full of slush and mud that we decided that wasn't the best place to come this time of year.

The library was next, and I also borrowed a bunch of anime DVDs as long as we were there.

We put the disk on in the car on our way then to a new Walmart that opened up somewhere. Sure enough, Mom did agree how retro that band sounds, but looking at the case, it turns out that the album, Try This, dates from 1998.

Other than that, all that was left after shopping was the post office near the other library, in Bellport.
