Just for clarification in case we start using this, while Marie calls me Henry, I sometimes call her Mary, and Emily mentioned on the ride here calling her Marge (a contraction of her full name, Marie Ledger), Emily asked me there what we should call Drew. I later decided upon "Shu", since that's the original Japanese name of someone from Pokemon who was renamed Drew in English. (Nothing to do with "shoes".)

-----

Next time we fly over here, we're gonna need more changes of socks and underwear, because there is no washing machine in this apartment. Brian promised me for now to share his with me while we wash stuff at Marie and Drew's place only when really necessary.

Should've also brought shorts as well as pants, given how hot it got yesterday. And my sunglasses too, which I always forget to put on even whenever Mom and I go out for a walk.

(Might also need a slightly bigger pair of sneakers when I return home, since I've lately been feeling a callous on my toe push up against my current right one, despite not feeling anything whenever I put on my Doc Martins instead. Can tolerate for now, though.)

-----

Went with Brian first thing yesterday to rent a car. Waiting for that to arrive is when we agreed on the wash situation, while also talking about Unity and stuff.

After coming back to the apartment is when we and Emily went to pay Marie and Drew a visit. We started the day off by eating breakfast at this place called Two Bird Cafe. I and someone else originally ordered a chorizo scramble (not a scrambled egg), but after being told that that was sold out, I was actually pretty quick to order a 2Bird Bagel instead. (We also got a bonus platter of some eggs and potatoes, somehow.)

After finishing up, we then hiked this nearby trail called Thorner's Ridge, where we saw things like newts scurrying about. That's where we all could've been wearing shorts, had we known how hot it might've gotten, but I was at least able to leave my sweatshirt in the trunk. Not unbearably hot, nor did that callous quite get to me (I actually didn't feel it at all whenever we walked uphill).

-----

Went to Marie and Drew's for half an hour, and I took then to put on Lucky Star, calling Drew over when he was about to play Elden Ring by himself, since he and Marie were the ones I promised to show it to.

We watched all the way through the next-episode segment, and given what the credits are like, someone (can't remember who) asked me what I'd sing if I were ever to do karaoke, to which I answered the opening theme of Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka. After showing a sneak peek of episode 16 (after previously showing Marie my laptop wallpaper, of Misao, after trying to join them through said laptop and then my phone in a video call), I put the English cover on, and then the actual sequence.

(WARNING: In case we end up watching it, and someone decides to continue watching on their own, when Kurumi says something in the last episode about THE RED SCORPION, squeeze your eyes shut! You don't want to know where she's about to stab someone. (Don't worry, though; no damage is depicted when the show resumes the situation itself.))

(Let me also mention that, long story short, the concept of Magical Girls itself was not always anything like this show and others inspired from Madoka. To begin with, Magical Girls themselves did not fight at all prior to Sailor Moon in 1992, simply performing different feats of magic depending on the show, but Madoka in 2011 was what really set off the trend of much darker shows for the genre than SM, Cardcaptor Sakura, or Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Someone on Tumblr even called such works out (not actually citing any) as Daybreak Illusion, Magical Girl Raising Project, or at least one game I know of called CryStar (camelcase mine, just once, to specify pronunciation as per its katakana), as a massive disservice to Madoka itself, given the themes of hope and empowerment that they tend to lack in favor of tragedy porn for its own sake (not that I'm much less guilty of that, given a certain fanfic adaptation project of Madoka itself).)

-----

We headed back out, and ordered coffee and ice cream while taking a walk downtown.

-----

Later, we ate dinner at this place called Taco Jane's, and talked about this and that during our time there.

Along with my other stuff, including a glass of horchata that I found myself liking, I ordered a slice of Tres Leches Cake for dessert. I always like to cut the icing off of cake to have last, and one of the others commented on how similar it is to Tsukasa mentioning back in Lucky Star how she likes to save the strawberry on a strawberry shortcake for last.
