Had a pretty lengthy chat with Dawn yesterday afternoon.

I had already mentioned previously that I don't bother listing games where you select food for your whole party, only for individual members. Yesterday, she went on to suggest two Fire Emblem games, and got confused when I turned down Three Houses, since players can choose multiple dishes in that game to order while sharing a meal with two other characters. (Said two still reap all the same benefits as the player character.)

Basically, I like games where you have at least three characters in your party whenever it's "time to eat", but can feed your different members different stuff from whatever's available depending on what they actually need. Usually, said food would be in your inventory, but even in a game like Persona 2 or NEO: The World Ends With You, where all meals take place where you order, you are still free to decide what everyone actually orders. (For example, in Persona 2: Innocent Sin, if you have enough money while visiting Peace Diner with a full party, you can decide through die rolls upon a Chicken Burger (ten-sided 2, or else a cubic 1 or 4 followed by 2 or 5) for Jun (cubic 6), a Peace Burger (1) for Maya (2), a Fish Burger (3) and Big Peace Burger (5) for Eikichi (4), a Peace Shake (7) for Jun (6), and end things there (9). (A 10-sided 0 would warrant a re-roll, just to determine what to order next; the recipient would still stand.))

(On that note, even though Tatsuya, Lisa, and Yukino all got left out in that example, they at least had a chance to order something, and we could presumably infer that they simply weren't hungry. I would not equate how they got left out with 3 or onward, where you can't feed one particular character in each game because she doesn't have HP or stats to manage in the first place. The Earthbound trilogy, where Poo has a good reason not to recover much from most foods, and non-feedable characters join only temporarily anyway, was the inspiration for both Game Gourmet itself and my dream game, so I'm willing to make allowances there and in similar games; in some cases, it's actually justified one way or another.)

Suffice to say, I have also declined Fates, since you select one dish each day to cook for half your army.

(Dawn had also recommended the Rune Factory series, starting with 3. Not interested in that game, since you can only bring one villager at a time with you where food is relevant, but 4 will take the most priority when Steam has its summer sale, since I'd obviously want to play that before 5.)
