Muhammad explained to me in the middle of the night that Disgaea PC is beyond modding; most of its data is hardcoded, which he explained means that only the creators can modify it.

He did say that the Android version that I've already had plans for might be viable later on, since mobile apps are much simpler to work with than PC games. (Technically, the iOS version would also be viable for me, but there does turn out to be no such port for Epic Battle Fantasy 5.)

I would have tried to sort out with him, which changes would still be possible and which ones would not. However, the very first milestone I laid out for him was a couple of quality-of-life improvements originally made between the PC and PS4/Switch versions, and learning that that in particular is impossible to adapt back to Windows is what led me to write that version off. Even if other changes are in fact possible there, I still wouldn't want anyone used to Complete to have to adapt to slightly more restricted movement just to enjoy minor expansions and QoL improvements.

So, I went on to refund all three games I had bought the other day. Other installments in the series can wait until I complete one version or another of game 1. (For the sake of my walkthrough, I might have to carry out certain experimentation through my Switch copy as that is.)

I really hope this is not the case with Epic Battle Fantasy 4, which he offered to work on alongside Disgaea, and which currently remains exclusive to Windows. I have been looking particularly forward to seeing a modified version of that game's Friend Dog summon, and there are a bunch of other changes revolving around that and other core changes that I had thought up in order to balance the game back out.

That said, far from frustrated, I am actually a bit relieved about this. I did mention expecting to wind up booked soon, and the only reasons I let him work on those two PC games, after he gave me a final combined price of $600, were out of respect for Aderemi and Xuebo, who are already in charge of the priority games, and to let him prove himself worthy of a lasting relation for in case either of them fail. At least here, I would've gotten much more than a script dump or some decensorship, for the same amount or less respectively, but I am glad to have only had to pay $70 for the effort he still had to put in. (And yes, he has proven himself trustworthy so far, by accepting my denial of any upfront payment and coming forward about which few changes would still be problematic in EBF4 if that proves viable.)

With that out of the way, he then went on to ask me for some bugfix jobs, for both himself and a friend of his. So far, I have given him Mother 3, and still need to organize something about Suikoden. (Earthbound also has a few bugs to fix, but that can wait until I'm done revising that CCscript, when I am then free to recompile Orbay's mod.)
