Aug. 5th, 2022 06:03 amThat bus ride yesterday was to Smithhaven Mall, where Mom agreed to meet me before taking me to Trader Joe's to pick out some frozen meals for when she and Dad go on a week-long trip somewhere soon.
After typing up yesterday's blog entry, I made myself some French toast for protein instead of defaulting to cereal, so that I could eat lunch later than usual and not wind up more tired and earlier than I still did. A first attempt made the bread crispy instead, but then I remembered to break a couple of eggs first (is it one or two?), the actual source of said protein.
Went on to play two regular stages of Disgaea, and put that down after recruiting that Warrior and equipping her with the same Pixie's Bow from before and a Legendary pair of Nerd Glasses. (The latter was the only unequipped non-weapon equipment item I had left for her, after having bribed the senate with most else I had, and I would need to remember to give her the next two things I get if I wasn't leaving the game itself to rest for reasons I'll get into soon.)

The bus came half an hour early, but the driver asked me if I had a mask. Lately, we haven't had to wear masks otherwise, but for this, it turned out that the only one available was Dad's circular one inside his truck, since Mom had the car where she keeps a bag of surgical ones. Will need to remember to bring one of those upstairs for my next reservation.
It took an hour to arrive at the mall, due partly to another pickup and dropoff the driver had to make. Started off by looking around at manga, but nothing in particular stood out. They didn't even have any Madoka manga this visit, let alone volume 3 of Wraith Arc.
Went to Gong Cha to buy some Earl Grey boba tea, just to try a flavor I never had before, and then the food court to complement a chicken chipotle sandwich and some loaded fries with it. Not getting any of those again, and in fact, I think I'm going to write boba tea off now. Not that I expected much flavor from Earl Grey to begin with, but even though I've only ever had it a few times to date, boba itself somehow isn't so great as when I tried it out the first time.
Took some time to walk laps up and down the hallway while digesting it all, before going to the Auntie Anne's stand. Turns out that chocolate frost I had last time was only available then for a promotion, and I instead went to this place's Häagen-Dazs location, where the spoons are not so flexible, for a black-and-white-cookie dazzler sundae.
Spent the rest of my visit back in Barnes & Noble, where I did read a few pages of Chitose is in the Ramune Bottle but otherwise mostly rested. Also skimmed through an Otaku USA magazine I noticed downstairs when Mom called me to await her there.
Mom managed to pick up a pound of pastrami at Zan's before we got those frozen meals and some other stuff at Trader Joe's.

Later on back home, Mom and I finished off Nakaimo, and she actually helped me to make sense of certain things about the OVA. Namely, that Miyabi was looking for someone wholesome for Shogo, who wouldn't make their relationship all about food and sex, but more importantly, for someone who wouldn't have him all to herself after a certain promise they've made. Mom equated this with how Emily and Drew tend to include me in their activities instead of keeping things mostly between themselves and Brian and Marie respectively like most of the latters' past dating partners had.
We then went on to address an issue with Joy-Con drift, and it turns out that Nintendo currently fixes that for free. Sending my respective Joy-Con for that will mean having to put the game down, but that might actually be for the better. Not only will I now have one big distraction less while I try to finish that file for Muhammad and then take care of other things, but I am currently expecting mods of other games. Along with Disgaea DX and all improvements due with that that he doesn't expect to take very long with, he had asked to translate Getter Love!! as a holdover project, and someone else has recently shown me some footage of having decrypted Star Ocean: First Departure.
(This other thing alone would not warrant a startover, but not helping is having blown a chance to help my Warrior, Non, level even further up in one shot than she did twice. She did manage to jump to 18 the first time, but even after comboing with Va, a Ghoul I helped level up over 80 on stage 7-2 still had 17 HP remaining, and went on to attack Laharl, who then took the kill for himself with a counterattack. I saved before remembering that Non was wielding a bow and could have taken the kill without risk of a counter or teaming up, the latter of which would divide the experience yielded between all involved. From there, I replayed 7-3 three times just to "make up" for such a missed opportunity. Will need to draw upon this for next time I equip someone new with a bow, spear, or gun.)
