Sep. 6th, 2022 07:29 amYesterday was my first time reaching an Item King. The fact that I landed to access the Item World three times through the same item, a Stealing Hand, doesn't surprise me after I cut the weapon and armor shops from my main menu and reserving those for specific circumstances, leaving me with the Dark Assembly, the Item World, the main story, and equipping someone after I complete one of those four.
And as it turns out, I had entered the wrong one of two level 20 Stealing Hands, after putting four Marksmen (their only relevant specialists) into the other. It's a good thing that was a relatively short Item World run, the second of two between waking up and coming down for breakfast (Mom was home for Labor Day), because I wasted no time deciding just to quit the game without saving, after having defeated the very main point of entering the Item World in the first place (that is, unless I were to select a binary-purposed Mr. Gency's Exit).
More on this in just a bit.

Mom and I finished watching season 1 of New Game! last Friday evening, and managed to watch two episodes of Magical Girl Raising Project. We did consider watching it through Amazon Prime Video, which lets you watch stuff through Hidive there (as opposed to through the home menu), and having accessed through Brian's TV account, saw a new 7-day free trial that I doubt he's ever going to have any use for, but decided to hold off on that for now. She and Dad are planning on Friday to drive to Maine for a week to take a Woodenboat class on building sails, and I would rather get more use out of that free trial when they come back.
With that, we ended up watching it for free on Crunchyroll through my computer instead.

Several times this past weekend, I could not access an online PDF that someone linked me to that had information about Earthbound's control codes. It kept timing out, and I had to ask each time about those in question before that same person re-linked me.
I copied it onto my PC, and will be sure to do that with other PDFs from now on.

Xuebo was unable to load that savestate I sent him. I looked into it, and even for me, FCE Ultra would not detect my own copy when I selected Load State From, even after having me specifically name it.
I pulled up one of Frederico's old videos, and could see him there creating and loading savestates much more straightforwardly, complete with the same extension my version looked for.
With that, I downloaded fceux, which does save and load states much more straightforwardly, but has slight crackling and no controller support, and my regular save data is gone. Now I have to start all over, although I will be able this time to avoid certain mistakes from last week.

Started that Item World run over last night, made it to the Item King again, but aborted again after killing Flonne with Lion's Roar, when I was actually thinking of the single-target Tiger Charge. Killing one of your own allies with a skill or standard attack costs you the good, canon ending, the one that lines up with the rest of the series, and I would like to see that in the actual game, not online.
Out of steam then for another run, but managed to see things through just this morning, with a final Hit stat of 224.
If this were an equipment item, I would find someone to attach it right to.
But, I sure can't wait to use it against the boss of episode 7.
