dmxrated1-across in this past issue's crossword of The Week was five letters for "Traffic light color", and 1-down was five for "Genre from Japan". Normally, the latter would've been obvious, but for the former, I could only guess "Green" originally. From there, I put down "Galge", meaning "gal game", the genre we know here as dating sims, which in turn includes one particular game for the Nintendo 64.
Sure enough, the last letter was an E, which started "-ess" for "Suffix with 'baron'". However, Mom deduced two days ago that 1-across was actually "Amber".
Well, our state DMV manual uses "amber" to describe the color of lights on certain types of service vehicles, but I have only ever seen or heard "yellow" to describe the middle light on a traffic light. How was I supposed to guess a specific shade instead of something basic?
Well, it is nice regardless to see the concept of anime referred to for once in a magazine that doesn't talk much about it even on its TV page.

Marie came home yesterday. Dad had to leave at 8 AM to pick her up at the airport.
Mom brought both me and her to the cemetery in Bellport for a walk, and we talked about various things.
In particular, I asked if she wanted to continue watching Kanon, but she told us that Drew asked to save the rest of that for him to watch together with us. I suggested we start over with Magical Girl Raising Project, Mom told Marie what that's like, and Marie mentioned at one point that she'd be more interested in seeing a sample of any given show than in its actual story, so we agreed on just episode 4, which I decided to purchase when they dropped me back home to shop for some wine.
