May. 26th, 2023 06:11 amBrian and Emily went to visit Grandma Ella two days ago, coming back yesterday afternoon.
I asked Brian before he left why he never told me he was planning to go there; while I already had a second job interview at Sam's Club coming up by that point, I would have at least liked the option to decide whether or not to go with them and plan around that if I opted to.
He told me, though, that with Maris in tow, it would already be hard enough to plan things out like who should sleep where.
-----
Mom told me after that day's episode of To Heart, that Smithhaven Mall has closed down its Sears store, which should provide me some job opportunities once renovations are done for the new store taking its place.
If I am not already employed by the time we come back from our vacation in a few weeks, I might as well apply in person at all stores there.
-----
Had a wi-fi outage just before we all went to bed. Dad did everything he could yesterday morning to fix it, before eventually heading out to buy some sort of replacement cable.
Brian and Emily sure got lucky to dodge that. I managed to keep myself busy with some yardwork Mom had asked me to get around to.
-----
Seeing how I only take my phone with me on errands, this could have just as easily happened if I were doing chores or having a walk, or at the gym where I typically lock my phone away, or if I actually remembered to silence it during a given interview.
But anyway, without access to email that whole time, I was only able to talk to Mom by phone. Someone from Sam's Club tried to call me while I was talking, but when I called the store back, I was not able to reach whoever made the call. I asked for either Kimberley or Nicholas, the ones I had interviewed with, but was told to call back at 11:30.
Halfway to that time, it dawned on me that the call was said to come from Patchogue, and I assumed then that it might've been a different store I had applied to. Called back and got a hold of a hiring manager, Denise, but she denied having me on file after looking through her paperwork.
Come the appointed time, I then remembered that the town that appears on my phone does not always match the actual store location. Originally, I assumed that that might have been the individual caller's hometown, but even Google attributes Patchogue to what is actually the Medford location, as I'd find out upon looking up that store's phone number.
Neither hiring coach was in, and the person I spoke to offered to keep my name and phone number handy and call me back.
I was going to stop there, even before my parents suggested as much when I ran everything past Mom. So now, I don't know if I was selected for the job I was offered, or if someone had a few more steps to present me, or what, or how long it'll be before they possibly write me off. Will need to discuss with Mom when a good time would be to verify that if no one ever does call me back next.
-----
With Brian and Emily back, Mom brought Maris into my room as we watched yesterday's episode of To Heart. Dad was showing Brian some stuff on YouTube, but Emily joined us just partway in.
This being the show's sports festival episode, Emily asked if that was the show I was talking about before we all met in Florida. I told her she was thinking of How Heavy are the Dumbells You Lift?, but also that the one episode I got to show Marie and Drew of that show also focused its first half on its own annual school sports festival.
