Jul. 7th, 2023 06:56 amYesterday was my first day working in the afternoon instead of midday, scheduled from 2 to 7, and my second day picking stuff out on the floor.
The day started off with someone escorting me to a manager's office and asking him for a scanner to lend me, and picking stuff out was what I did for most of my shift. The first couple of rounds were so long that, despite my original intentions not to bother ordering anything at Dunkin', I decided to get a couple of stuffed bagel minis (cream cheese inside) and a salted caramel cold brew when someone offered to cover for me, mainly to relax just for 15 minutes.
(Turns out that cold brews are not classified as "coffee"; they are their own type of "iced drink". Found out when I tried having the clerk scan a deal I had opened on my phone, for Dunkin' fave discounts when you buy a medium or large coffee. And to boot, you also need to have a transaction going before the clerk can scan anything.)
For most rounds, I was coached by someone, but I went solo for the last round I took up. Eleven minutes before my shift was supposed to end, I took up just the smaller of two orders available at that time, but it wound up taking 46 minutes because I had to look around for half the stuff listed.
Met Mom out front at 7:35, after shelving everything at BOPIC, and she told me she had already been waiting half an hour even before having texted me. I told her what happened, we agreed to shop around there one of these days in order for me to find some stuff more easily, and I suggested that we could also look then into transferring Marie's membership card for Emily, since there aren't any locations in California.
Was planning originally just to unwind up in the apartment before having dinner, just to have a chance to check my emails at least. We arrived home quarter to 8, though, and even though Mom had a plate made up for me, we would have had to heat it back up, and having already had a burger for lunch at 11 so that I wouldn't end up spoiling dinner during work, I decided just to keep things simple and let her put some yogurt together with some cherries and honey instead. Came into the house to sit down and chat with Dad in the meantime, and filled him in on what's involved in what I did at work.
