My parents left yesterday to help Brian fix up his air conditioner.

Last night, I decided to give Brian a call. One thing I brought up was the idea of turning the Cibusverse into its own thing apart from Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Like, I used to enjoy how far the Madoka franchise itself had come when I got into that back in 2015, with all its diverse media before Magia Record took over two years later. Four spinoff series featuring new characters, one of which focused on certain historical events, several adult Puellae Magi, two pre-teen ones, one in a game the franchise crossed over with, four more in another game, etc.

At this point, though, the franchise simply has not aged well for me.

Nevermind how awkward it turned out to try to fit everyone into a 1:1 ratio in an alternate reality. Or how I squandered half my period of interest in Cibi trying to find some one person to draw all those different girls as Cibi, to start with the original five as a template for everyone else, and seeking ideas from different people to help me reboot the first fic in my own words, none of whom were nearly as helpful as Chelle before that hiatus she had just gone on, before eventually figuring out what I really wanted out of any fanfiction. Or how Magia Record concentrates so many new characters into one installment, albeit with one sidestory each focusing on a given few, and even went on to water down the novelty of Tart Magica by introducing other historical Puellae Magi.

It was only recently that I realized, through someone's answer to someone else about the main characters' names in MR, that even in works that he doesn't write himself, Urobuchi has this policy that Puellae Magi (except for crossover characters and anyone with western names) can only have surnames that tend to double as female given names, even though other characters can have whatever they want, with two in Madoka Magica alone having Kamijou and Nakazawa.

There are not enough canon characters without any official surnames (or unnamed altogether) to eschew such a rule wholesale, but there are too many canon characters overall to focus on original characters, which would have also defeated the whole point of the project itself. (For a joke with the first category of those, though, it would be feasible to give them masculine names such as Tanaka or Yukito for surnames, or to even let one's surname outright match her given name.)

Another thing that happened was certain attraction I have recently felt towards the idea of fetishizing the casts of Magical Girl Raising Project. Not sure what I would do with such a franchise that's all about girls killing one another, though, and it doesn't help either that at least one of them is male in normal life.

From there, though, I've come to believe that what I want mainly is the idea of fat magical girls in general. Especially when you consider the project's inspiration from a certain deleted fic that modified Madoka's cast differently, and my initial idea of those five all big and fat while fighting a Witch. I tried to focus on canon characters mainly because that was easier than both seeking original characters and trying to picture them in text-only fanfiction.

For this, I would like to commission for something like a manga-style ebook (in color, though) to capitalize on through Amazon. It helps that my different Cibus pics, despite being restricted to a folder instead of on the main gallery, are the most popular pics I have up on deviantArt, matched only by Alicia (also confined to a specific folder); should be enough to launch a Kickstarter campaign with, although Brian and I have agreed to discuss how to go on about that when he comes over next month.
