Oct. 13th, 2023 06:29 amThree days ago, I landed an interview at Marshalls in Stonybrook, for 12:00 yesterday. Checked Google Maps to see what was available there to have lunch at, and noticed this place called Burgerology, which happens to have these huge elaborate sundaes on its dessert menu. Decided from there to cut back on cookies and ice cream for until then.
Later that same day, I landed an interview for Five Guys in Port Jefferson. Mom was right in the apartment with me, painting one of the closet doors, and she and I agreed upon 3:00, the soonest time available after she leaves work.

Yesterday morning, after filling Mom in first, I managed to fit another interview in at 2, for Chili's in South Setauket, located on the same street right in-between the other two places.
Arrived at Marshalls at 11. Shortly before arriving, I noticed Burgerology in a different shopping center from the one I was going to. Looked around to see what else was there, and went to this bagel place to grab an El Camino, which is basically sliced turkey, mozzarella, red peppers, and pesto on a toasted croissant, along with a large, soft chocolate chip cookie and some coffee.
Wound up having my interview half an hour early after finishing up, and then hopped over to Red Lobster (same location Mom and I went to before) for something to cool my mouth off. Ordered a glass of strawberry lemonade.
Walked over to Smithhaven Mall, and called Mom to meet me at Barnes & Noble. She asked instead that I meet her at Trader Joe's at around 1:15, suggesting I head there at 1:00, and I told her I entered the mall through Macy's. She suggested I retrace my steps back out through there and then find it.
Read half of volume 1 of Oshi no Ko, that same show I recently showed her, Brian, and Emily a few scenes of, before heading back.
Obviously, I headed the wrong way and ended up walking clockwise down the sidewalks surrounding the mall, before Mom called me to ask where I was. She instructed me to go back to B&N, and then helped me find Panera Bread from there to meet me in front of.
We still managed to shop at Trader Joe's for a bit, and I managed to land some pumpkin mousse cakes, along with the usual ganache cake.
Chili's just so happens to sit next to TFCU's South Setauket location. I asked to make a deposit for after my interview there, and she told me she'd be shopping at Target just across the street, although an instruction to await her back did slip my mind.
The person I spoke to gave me her manager Emily's business card and some times at which to arrange a second interview with her.
Went into Stop & Shop to redeem a CashX5 ticket and buy Match2Win. Used a five hoping to get some singles for SCAT, just before noticing that lotto machines do not give cash back. Bought five cards, and then asked to break a ten after redeeming that other ticket.
It was after that when I'd make a deposit of $60.07 in twenties and loose change.
Went over to Target to meet Mom, and noticed an ice cream truck parked near the curb. Wound up buying a Screamers, basically a cup of Oreo ice cream, something I didn't see on our local truck's menu the few times I approached that one, and it turned out to be hard like in a tub.
Got a text message shortly after coming inside, telling me where she was.
Saved my ice cream for after my remaining interview. Showed Mom those times, and she asked me to arrange for tomorrow at 4.
Turns out that Five Guys is looking for closers, which would require availability at 11 PM, making that not a good match for me.

I have obviously made the right move by seeking out another job, after planning originally to see how much work I end up with during the holidays. Today is when shifts are scheduled for the week after next, and I have yet another week of nothing. Suffice to say, that defeats the whole point of landing a job, and for exactly that reason, I had selected a constant schedule for Chili's when given a choice between that and flexible.
