Mar. 19th, 2008 06:27 amWell, I'm finally able to play Makeruna! Makendou Z. Brian installed Daemon Tools onto our computer, I downloaded a .cue file from Dope Roms, and I ran the .cue file on DT. I was already told by TheNewX that the sound would be buggy in Magic Engine FX, which means that there wouldn't be any point trying to make a voice dub if the voices are barely audible, even though a text translation is still possible. However, any way to possibly play the game is still better than none; if I had the option, I would've bought a real copy of the game to use on MEFX, to which a translation patch might not be possible.
I was gonna try running the game on Mednafen, but despite everyone's help on ROMhacking.net, I still can't figure out how to run the game on it. Maybe Brian will be able to do it for me if he's willing to read the whole thread. If push comes to shove, though, my last resort would be to buy a real game disk as soon as one becomes available on Ebay, gather some people to act the voices, record the gameplay, paste the voice clips wherever necessary, and upload the final product somewhere such as YouTube. (This has been done with Snowboard Kids Plus, by Vesch, even though all eight voices in that game had been done by the same person.)
With Game Tengoku, whether or not I'll dub that one depends on how clear the sound will be on Saturn games compared to my copy of MMZ. The copy that I had turned out to be a ROM for an arcade console called the Jaleco Megaboard 32, and I was never able to find the Saturn version anywhere. I should've known it was a different version, since it had the words "Master of Shooting" before "Game Tengoku." There's even a Game Gear version called "Kuni-chan no Game Tengoku," which most likely doesn't have any VA considering that the Game Gear is 8-bit and runs on cartridges.
Don't worry about Getter Love!!, though. If there's any voice acting to dub, I'll make sure that I can actually rewrite the respective data.
