For today's Co7G posts, the most significant events would be the winter chorus concert on Wednesday, and a snow day on Thursday. Not as much to say about the former as about the latter.

Back to the present.

This is usually the time of year that Mom and Dad go to the Woodenboat show. This year, though, they decided not to go, because it's been rainy for more than a week now, and such would probably be the case there as well.

-----

I asked Mom to bring me to GameStop yesterday, so that I could see if their used copy of Pokemon Ranger was complete enough for me to download Manaphy's egg onto my own Pokemon games. She brought me over, and during our stay there, also stopped at the liquor store in the same shopping center. As it turns out, their Ranger copy had not been completed, but I will add that game in my list of games to play before Platinum. However, they in fact do have their own Nintendo DS, which in fact serves as a demo unit and even had another game already in it when the clerk handed it to me. That means that whenever I'm playing Platinum and decide to trade Shaymin and/or Regigigas off of Pearl, I can just hop on over there and take care of things.

As far as trading goes, I've decided that I'm only gonna visit the Global Trade Station whenever I need to evolve a Pokemon that can only do so through trades. I understand that there's a glitch in the game that lets them evolve upon being taken back, just by being put up for trade in the first place. Each time I visit the GTS, I will also look for one Pokemon that either I forfeited or that cannot be obtained in Diamond at all. And then, regarding previous-gen Pokemon that don't appear in Diamond, once I complete the main game, I will collect Friend Codes (most notably off of Yahoo Answers), visit the trading rooms each time I reach a PokeCenter, and see if anyone has anything worthwhile and is willing to trade it for something that I have.

Speaking of Pokemon, it was also on this day last year that I downloaded Deoxys, my first event-Pokemon ever, onto Pearl. I've been keeping an eye on both Bulbapedia's main page and Pokemon.com for further events, and this is also one of the reason why I'm holding off on playing Platinum. Every day, I check Bulbapedia a handful of times, craving for more events to look forward to, but the real name of the game is to not miss out on events. Unlike with fanfiction, I can't take a break from it, because once each event ends, there's little hope of ever getting the same thing again. Now, I do understand that we got a lot of Pokemon downloading opportunities during the RSE/FRLG era, I'm glad to be living in the United States, since it get far more of them than any other country except Japan, and I got really lucky to have found out about it from--of all things--Penny Arcade (which isn't even Pokemon-oriented). But, do I regret missing out on anything prior to Deoxys? No. I would compare my keeping track of events like that to keeping a record of my life on this website, which I wouldn't be using today if it weren't for my old friend Adalia Glenys so many years ago.

And finally, what a coincidence it is that just yesterday, when I said that YouTube didn't have the Pokemon song that I like so much, it suddenly does!

Finally, it's only too well-known that Michael Jackson has just recently died. Now, I was never one of his fans, but I am a fan of both kickass video game songs and the Angry Video Game Nerd. So, first, here's a link to Kayin and Ten Count's theme from Battle Arena Toshinden 3:

Now, what's that got to do with Michael Jackson? Well, anyone who's at least familiar with the game (not necessarily having played it, which I haven't) will know that the latter of those two characters is based on Jackson himself. (His pics will appear starting at the 1:42 mark.)

For the second link, here is, the fuckin' Nerd's review for Michael Jackson's Moonwalker on the Sega Genesis:

Sure is a coincidence that has been his first AVGN video for the year 2009. (And, yes, I did see his tribute to Jackson this morning, which he narrated as himself.)
