Chronicles of 7th Grade: Week 19
Jun. 26th, 2009 05:30 amToday's Co7G entries begin with me finally buying Banjo-Kazooie and Matthew coming to sleep over, and concludes with Brian's birthday that year. Like I said, though, nothing in particular had happened on New Year's Day that year, so this will start the day following.

Back to the present.
For the first time in years, I came to work for Mom at the hospital yesterday. She suggested that I come to work with her two days a week from now on, as a change in pace from just sitting around the house all summer.
If there's anything I have to come to some kind of terms with regarding Pokemon DPP, it's that if you're gonna trade Pokemon through wi-fi, you have to have seen whichever Pokemon you're looking for. Anything you see in the Battle Tower or in link battles don't count, noooo! You have to actually see the damn Pokemon within the damn game! That means the only way to get past-gen legendaries or 2nd-gen starters is to either migrate them, trade them off of HeartGold or SoulSilver, or just hack them. I understand that migrating said starters, which are Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile, require you to fulfill some herculean task in either Pokemon Emerald or Pokemon Colosseum. Furthermore, I had a look at the Global Trade Station in Pokemon Pearl, looked for an Articuno, and found two people who were looking for event-only legendaries: one for Celebi and one for Deoxys. Unless they used cheating devices, however they managed to ask for those two is beyond me. Even though I'm not going to use a peripheral to hack for Pokemon, I did ask on Yahoo Answers if there were any hacking codes that would let you ask for pretty much anything whatsoever.
Another thing I'd like to comment on in DPP: Trainers and their respective songs. First of all, I know that Youngsters, Lasses, Bug Catchers, Campers, Picnickers, and School Kids are always the first varieties of trainers you'll come across in any game, but it sure sucks that you only get to see them or hear their themes at the very beginning of the game. RBY and FRLG had Lasses and Picnickers up until the fourth Gym, and GSC had them up until Olivine Lighthouse. Even though RSE doesn't have them for as long, it does have other Trainer classes that share the same tune. Man, Lasses have such a nice song, and it sucks that you never get to hear it again after reaching Floaroma Town.
Aside from that, I'm not that fond of the song you hear when a Sailor or Fisherman spots you, or the one where it's a Biker, Skier, or Bird Keeper. If there's one that I really can't stand, though, it's the one you hear an Ace Trainer (equivalent to "Cool Trainer") or a Veteran spots you. On the other hand I just love the one that plays when you encounter a Blackbelt, Psychic, Rocker, or Cop! It's the best damn battle-alert song ever in a Pokemon game, period! Too bad you have to go to an MP3-sharing site instead of YouTube to listen to it outside the game (and even then, only for one loop at a time), and it's a good thing I'm playing one of the DS games once again. It will be so good to hear it once again, after hearing their annoying equivalent themes from RSE so many times!
