Jun. 13th, 2012 07:54 amSo far, I've been enjoying Pokemon Diamond pretty well, actually. Of course, part of that might be because I've only been playing it for a few days since eight whole months ago, and because I'm not planting berries anymore. Playing this by ear, I think I might purchase a copy of Pokemon Battle Revolution after all, since the main reason I intend to play Platinum is gonna be irrelevant for years to come. If I enjoy that, I might just change my mind as to whether or not to continue playing the games in general.
Just yesterday, I happened to download a Victini, which was being offered through wi-fi for the very first day, onto Pokemon White. Turns out that this is actually a second chance, since it was also offered during the holidays half a year ago. Had I decided to check a few days earlier, I would've also nabbed myself a Darkrai.
Not that I was ever actively avoiding any downloading events since last year. I just hadn't been going out of my way to check Bulbapedia's main page each day ever since I got sick of playing Diamond last October. Even if I do continue to check it regularly, though, I still don't think I'm going to ask for Black 2 or White 2 to for next Christmas. I've still yet to play further in Platinum, HeartGold, and White, in each of which I only have one badge, and considering the chance that I might stop entirely mid-Platinum, I would rather not hoard yet another game just so I can get more free event Pokemon when they become available.
If you ask me, the fact that lots of other people (at least in North America) will have the same mons and other stuff as I'll get kinda takes the fun out of it. This is one of the reasons I've started writing Parasitic Trio, and especially the reason why the Pal Park in that ficseries will be what it is: To create something independent of the actual history of the games and what was offered for them at what time.
Still, since said events are available freely, it's not like there's any point not getting them if you're aware of what's being given out when and have any of the correct games with which to download them.
