Jan. 14th, 2014 04:53 amSo, Brian has suggested yesterday that I create some maps for the game. Started tackling that by first plotting where Rokuna's house would be in relation to the twins' and Konata's.
According to Lucky Star Wiki, Tsukasa and Kagami's house is located at 36° 6' 1.06" north, 139° 39' 23.92" east, while Konata's house is at 36° 5' 13.18" north, 139° 43' 30.93" east. According to Google Maps, those translate respectively into Kuki-shi, Washinomiya, 1 Chome 8−6 Daiyuuchasa and 3 Chome-14-18 Kita, Satte-shi, both in Saitama Prefecture. Using a little algorithm I thought up, I've decided that Rokuna's house would be located at 36° 6' 0" north, 139° 42' 11.53" east (25 Arai, Kuki-shi, Saitama-ken).
Now, here's something weird: To start off, Saitama is supposed to be the prefecture where all the canon mains live (except for Miyuki, who lives in Tokyo). That would be the equivalent to a county here. More specifically, though, Konata does indeed live in Satte, while Tsukasa and Kagami are supposed to live in Kasukabe. Those would be the towns, but several issues arise with that. For Konata, the wiki specifies Satte as the prefecture, while Wikipedia specifies Satte to be in Saitama Prefecture. On the twins' part, "Kasukabe" is not even included in the address that Google Maps specifies for their home's coordinates. Washinomiya is, but that's supposed to be the real-life equivalent to Takanomiya, the shrine at which they and their family work.
Given how slightly confusing the above is, I wouldn't know how to specify the town in which Rokuna would live in. Arai?
Another issue that arose while I was planning that out, is that I noticed a river that flows at some point between Rokuna's address and each of the other two, but completely failed to find out the name of it. Not that it would've actually pertained to anything, but the names of real-life locations sure are interesting when I'm working on a story that takes place mostly in--and throughout--the real world... especially when the source material takes place entirely within Japan, with only one character from outside.
Well, according to Dad when I asked him later on, while most bodies of water do have names, many of them are known only locally. I'd imagine that Yaphank Lake would be one of those, and given such a fact as that, I guess making up my own names is something I might as well just do... especially since 1) that applies canonically to Ryouou (Kyouei) High School and the aforementioned Takanomiya (Washinomiya) Shrine, and 2) I've already created a forest to occupy at least some land that, in real life, has already been developed.
Speaking of a forest, Dad also said that a lot of them don't have names, because at one point, most of the world was forested by default. So, I guess it wouldn't be unreasonable to leave that one unnamed even in-universe.
In any case, I've decided that the route that Google Maps specifies from Konata's address to Rokuna's will be the basis for the map of the forest in which the mains meet Rokuna and battle the Starman Jr. With that out of the way, I am making a point of mapping out the twins' and Konata's houses based on screenshots of the anime, and have also asked Chelle to do the same with Rokuna's house in Mon Colle Knights.

What I had asked Dad, was during one of several trips we made down Long Island Avenue to pick up three heavy beams of wood. Said beams were square, about two feet thick, and even longer than our van, which we were using to transport them. Dad pointed out that two of them had markings all the way down, indicating that they were cut entirely with an ax about 200 years ago from the trees they used to be. The third one, however, had no markings, and Dad told me that it was probably cut into shape at a sawmill later on.
