Went to this video game trade at a church in Huntington yesterday. Found out about it last Tuesday from the part B cover of a newspaper Mom brought from the hospital, depicting a Pac-Man-like maze and saying "Game On! Grab the controller for some wucka-wucka-wucka in Huntington."

What was actually there were some tables full of games and related merchandise for sale, along with some games set up to actually play. In a place like that with so many games to peruse, the ones that one is familiar with, even only by title, tend to stand out from everything else, but I made a point of actually looking around before I'd buy anything. I wasn't set on anything in particular, since this is only the first time I've ever been to an event like this. Usually, if I consider buying something old, it wouldn't be that long before I actually do so online, but if anything, I would've seriously considered these titles in particular:

Virtual Boy (not that there actually was anything there for that; no surprise there):
-Innsmouth no Yakata (and yes, there were some Japanese games in general)
-Jack Bros.
-Mario Clash
-Wario Land

Saturn:
-Game Tengoku
-Mega Man 8 (even though I already beat the PSX version via the Anniversary Collection)

Playstation 2:
-Lucky Star: Ryouou Gakuen Outousai

Playstation Portable:
-Mega Man Powered Up! (already set on that ever since I got into the franchise itself three years ago)
-Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Playstation Vita (didn't see any games for that, despite the presence of some for the also-current Nintendo Wii U):
-Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram

Eventually settled for Mana Khemia: Student Alliance and The Legend of Heroes II and III, all for the Playstation Portable. Along with the PSP itself being the only particular system I've been set on obtaining, I would also doubt any luck I'd have with playing anything on an emulator instead, considering how poorly my past attempts to play PSX, Saturn, and PC-FX games on those had panned out.

The vendor did have an actual PSP behind the table, on the floor and plugged in to charge, but that thing turned out dead. Would've bought it up had it still been functional, but this is exactly how I was able to buy all three games in the first place. They totaled out to $89; I had only $83 in my wallet, and had to supplement it with quarters that I raided the change jar in the basement for (originally to play any available arcade games with). Well, that staves off a trip to the bank for now, and I won't be playing the lottery either for two more weeks or until I cash in some recycling at Stop 'n' Shop.

Among the ready-to-play games were Taz-Mania* (Genesis), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis), Super Mario All-Stars (SNES), 3-D WorldRunner (NES), Ape Escape (PSX), Super Mario 64 (N64), Wario Ware Inc.: Mega Party Game$ (GCN), Super Smash Bros. (Wii U), and an arcade machine containing some classic 80's games (which was in a photo next to the news article, hence all my quarters from the jar). Unfortunately, I ended up not actually playing any of them. I could try to cite reasons for any of them individually, but in general, I was having a sugar headache from two double-chocolate-chip cookies I had alongside a meatball sub and some milk (I ate at a Walmart's Subway restaurant along the way, where Mom did some actual shopping). I had ordered three, and it's a good thing I stopped short of the last one, but I probably should've ordered just one in the first place. Good thing this wasn't anything like a full-blown convention; Mom told me that these events are held every now and then, and while the cover of that paper made it seem more special than it actually was, there were even four similar events listed on the page after the actual article.

(*Not sure whether it was that or Taz in Escape from Mars; only noticed the game at a level containing lava pits or something, and couldn't find anything similar on a YouTube longplay for either game.)

Along the way home, Mom showed me a trail of people on the sidewalk opposite from us, and told me that they were all going to get pumpkins. She explained that, in those parts, there is only one patch to pick any from, unlike back at home where we could look around until we find a good spot. She then asked me if I remember that time me and my class went on a field trip to pick pumpkins back in kindergarten; I told her that while I do remember going to a farm somewhere, I don't really recall anything in particular from that event.
