Jan. 8th, 2018 08:38 amJake has more than once called me out for blaming him for this whole thing and shunning my own role in this failing relationship. He has admitted both possibly deserving to have been insulted and at the same time having always held a bias as a good person surrounded by difficult circumstances.
Even though it took a lot more than there was going on much earlier on, I have finally found it in me to accept my own fault for having tried to slip in that PokeWalker reference into Jimmy's first chapter after finalization, mentioning it to him only after he asked why it was taking so long for me to upload it, and getting lucky enough for him just to accept it. I should've been blunt with him, even if it meant having then to look around online for others to flesh it out (and it had yet to cross my mind to find anything like Upwork, instead of FanFiction's list of beta-readers), something I probably would have done if he refused to excise any of his muscle references that I had repeatedly objected to or made any more in the next chapter.
That still doesn't explain why he showed any enthusiasm at all even long afterwards until April just last year, such as begging me not to abandon it when I first considered that, asking who the protagonists of the Unova and Kalos fics would be in a hypothetical second story, and requesting a test run of the Pal Park.
Honestly, though, I still wish I hadn't provided any substitutes for a thorough explanation of things when I first stated my refusal to help him with his stuff anymore. Moot point now, since he no longer even wants anything from me after that fuck-you I had retracted only a day later. I really played my cards wrong all ordeal long. He bent over a lot for me, I would've taken my turn to do so for him if he'd actually talk to me, but I can't blame him at this point for just wanting to keep things simple, give me my damn money, and leave both our business and personal relationships and his interest in the story in pieces.
(You're welcome to come back if you ever see any reason to.)
