Aug. 2nd, 2020 07:32 amJust the other day, my parents came across Rocko's Modern Life on Amazon Video, and Mom asked me at some point if I would be interested in watching that with them. I told her that, in general, there are certain other Nicktoons I would rather watch before warming back up to others, although I would be open to us all watching as a family.
Brought this up with Brian a few days ago, but he said he isn't all that interested in the ones I specified, citing Rocko for being still relatable at our age by depicting the kind of world we live in even today, and said that he himself had watched a few episodes with Emily.
-----
Just yesterday, after having come back from another trip to Boston, Brian brought down a bunch of books and DVDs that he no longer has bookshelf space for, and I suggested that we try out Nichijou and Avatar: The Last Airbender at some point.
I brought this up again while riding with them to the beach later on, and went on to suggest we also check out the original Di Gi Charat, from which I had picked up similar vibes to Rocko. Like, even though subsequent DGC series are still surreal, they are mostly in a cutesy way, but this series has things happening that are more comical than cute, such as when two of the supporting characters fall down a hole with a sign next to it saying "To Hell", and a bouncer of sorts welcomes them and asks them what kind of eternal torture they would like to sign up for.
(What perfect timing, after I recently showed Brian these three entries, after he saw the Starbound cover image in Cyril's outline and commented on the Economy logo, although I'll also be sure to show him this one from in-between and the actual NP screenshot as well.
-----
In any case, I gotta say, the waves at the beach were pretty brisk, the kind I used to like as a kid. My heart was pounding by the time we had enough and decided to lay down on the sand, and I found myself still weary this morning until writing this entry.
